Well, after keeping a T-Jet Blazer Pro DTG printer working continuously for over 15 years, we finally encountered a non-repairable failure, so we are switching to DTF for several reasons.
We have purchased a seldom-used P-800 printer in excellent condition, with a perfect nozzle pattern check. I have re-flashed it to chipless, and large refillable tanks are on the way. We have not yet purchased the RIP software but are considering the Arco version.
Over the years, we have gotten good at things like rigorous print head maintenance/replacement for the 4880 in the T-Jet, so replacing a print head is nothing new for us. We always like to keep at least one new print head, and dampers, in stock as spares.
To this end, I have been looking at various web sites offering genuine Epson print heads for the P-800 but it appears there are three versions ... unlocked, single locked, and double locked. I really have no idea about the differences. Our P-800 is a standard North American version, so I'm wondering which print head to buy. I assume the chipless status has nothing to do with print heads, it just ignores the tank levels.
On another topic, what is the best head flushing solution to use for DTF? I'm a bit wary of using the Windex mixture because it can cause head damage over the long term (and Windex contains some sort of wax). We will flush out the Epson inks using the appropriate compatible flushing fluid, but I assume we should switch to something different for DTF inks, if it makes sense. We do need to be careful that flushing fluid viscosity is correct for the print head.
