  1. Any Epson that there is refillable cartridges available for that uses at least 6 ideally 8 or more carts and is supported by the rip software can be used.
  2. You can get uv ink lines similar to the original ones so the can be routed to the head like normal.
  3. Yes they can be either version standard or flat bed. You need to replace everything where the ink is thats before the head with uv specific parts to prevent any light curing the ink while in the system. The easiest way is uv dampers and uv ink pipes connecting direct to the damper. The printers shown aren't mine they belong to someone I was writing custom software for to control them.
  4. uv ink can destroy a print head and associated parts. If it's a cheap printer then its worth trying but I doubt the head in that model is any use.
  5. You would need to find out the spec of the unit for if it needs an no or nc sensor and what voltage it operates with. I would expect it to be using dc.
  6. I very much doubt the head would work with uv ink or not for long if it does. You would also need to find uv proof cartridges for it or convert it to use dampers.
  7. 60 degree can work. A wide beam pattern is ideal due to how close they are to the substrate to give a good coverage but if printing in high resolution and single direction printing there shouldn't be a problem as long as they emmit the correct light spectrum.
  8. Stepper motor, stepper controller, various switches, plus various materials to build the base and platen.
  9. The light needs to be mounted to the print head so it cures as printing. There are various types of inks such as eco solvent and latex. For eco solvent you will need tk replace a lot of parts on the printer or it will melt the plastics. Latex you need a heat source to cure it as it prints. For the on/off of the led light when over the capping station you can just use a momentary lever switch like used for the backstop, a laser, proximity sensor etc. You just need it to be triggered by the print head as it goes over the capping station.
  10. Yes the head is fine with uv inks. The dampers need replacing as the originals let light in. Look for uv ones that allow you to connect the ink lines from the tank direct. I'll see if I have a photo.

  12. Yes the P800 can be used for uv. The best way is to get chipless firmware installed. Remove the standard dampers and fit uv dampers with uv ink lines going off to uv ink tanks.
  13. With uv you neef to make sure the head is suitable such as the epson 3800 is not but the 3880 is.
  14. It will do it OK. Depending in the leds and the heat sink used you don't always need water cooling and just a fan for air exchange is enough.
  15. Are the gears that adjust the head height etc to the right if the capping station correctly aligned? If out of synch that will cause problems. When the head returns over the capping station it should lower and raise the head but if the gears are not correctly aligned with each other then they cant function. Each one will have an alignment mark on them.
  16. 0xE4 is to do with the carriage return so probably a bad connection on the flexible cable between the head and the main board or a dirty/damaged encoder strip.
  17. Does the encoder light up? You have probably tried something, hopefully just on the sub board but possibly the main board if it gives the same error with a replacement encoder.
  18. For the LED's as long as you have a decent heat sink fitted to them then you can use a pc cooling fan.
  19. The current needs lowering as it's over driving the leds. Are you using a fixed current power supply? Going by the suppliers spec to get optimal performance stay within their limits but you can run a lower voltage.
  20. The main thing is to limit the current to 1200ma or less. If you overdrive them it will damage them. Also you should have a larger heatsink than what you are using, heat is the biggest killer of led's.
  21. Do they claim it wont fame epson parts for any model of epson or just certain models? The epson 3800 head is not suitable for at least a lot of if not all uv inks but the 3880 head is ok with them all you just need to change the dampers etc.
  22. Yes they should be ok, you will need a heatsink to mount the leds to and a suitable power supply for them.
